But the law enforcement ofﬁcials weren’t the only ones who were now complaining of the newcomers. Health care ofﬁcials were worried about overcrowded clinics and patients without health insurance, and the schools were becoming overcrowded with kids who spoke little or no English. The town was expending resources to deal with the labor force the poultry industry was actively recruiting. And workers couldn’t get driver’s licenses without showing a Social Security number.
